The installation of wooden doors relies entirely on hinges for fixation. There are three common types on the market:
1. Hidden hinge: This type of hinge is relatively expensive. After installing and closing the door, the hinge cannot be seen inside or outside, greatly improving the overall appearance of the door after installation. It has also become popular in recent years.
2. Butterfly hinge: This type of hinge divides a piece into two pieces, one large and one small. This type of hinge has a lower price and is usually made of stainless steel. Due to structural issues, the load-bearing capacity of this hinge is limited. Generally, wooden doors or doors that are not particularly heavy can be matched, while slightly heavier doors (over 25 kilograms) will use three hinges. The hinge position in the middle is slightly higher during installation.
3. Bearing hinge: This type of hinge is the most common and affordable. This type of hinge is easy to install and usually does not require slots on the door leaf and frame. It can be tightened directly with screws and has good load-bearing capacity. If the door is slightly heavy, it is recommended to use bearing hinges, which are moderately priced and have good load-bearing capacity.
If you have high requirements for appearance, you can consider hiding the hinge. For lighter wooden doors, you can choose a butterfly hinge.
